DCAT FAQ's

  1. How long does the assessment take?
    1. The DriveABLE Cognitive Assessment takes approximately 30-60 minutes to complete. Some jurisdictions may require additional testing.
  2. Who facilitates the assessment?
    1. A trained and DriveABLE certified professional provides instructions and practice to guide the client through the assessment.
  3. How much the assessment cost?
    1. Cost for the assessment can vary. Most often the client pays for the assessment. In the USA CPT codes may be applicable.
  4. Is a standard government entry-level road test appropriate to assess and identify a medically impaired driver?
    1. No. The standard road test was not designed to evaluate medically impaired drivers. Safe drivers may be unfairly penalized and unsafe drivers may be missed.
  5. Can a client drive to the appointment?
    1. No. We ask that clients not drive themselves to the assessment.
  6. Does the client need to use his or her glasses or other aids?
    1. Please have the client bring any assistive aids (hearing aid, glasses) that they may require for reading, listening or driving.
  7. Does a client need to be familiar with computers for the assessment? 
    1. No. While the tasks are presented by a computer, no computer knowledge is necessary to perform the tasks. Clients will only be asked to touch a touch-sensitive screen or push a button. The touch responding is at the same difficulty level as pointing to an “X” on a piece of paper.
